Michael Diamond

Michael Diamond is a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU’s School of Professional Studies and the former Academic Director of the Integrated Marketing and Communications department. In this capacity he led the MS in Integrated Marketing and MS in PR and Corporate Communication, supporting over 1,000 graduate students and more than 200 faculty members. Prior to his time in academia, Michael worked with Time Warner Inc. and affiliated companies, for almost twenty years, in the areas of marketing, strategy, and operations. Most recently, Michael was the Senior Vice President and acting Chief Marketing Officer for Time Warner Cable, where he led marketing efforts to acquire, grow, and retain customers for the $19B residential business.
His practice and teaching reflect a profound belief that marketing and communications need to be “Human-Centered and Data-Driven.” Michael has spoken at several conferences, corporate and industry events, most recently IMA Summit, CMO Growth Council, PRSA International, PRSA Tristate, and the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity/Educators Summit; and he works with more senior marketing leaders through the Institute of Real Growth, where NYU SPS is a founding collaborator. Michael holds a B.A. with Honour and M.A. from Oxford University, an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama, where he was a Harkness Fellow, and an M.B.A. with Distinction from the London Business School.
Michael is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and holds the Practitioner Faculty Accreditation from AACSB, along with Harvard Business school-based training in Case Method teaching. Michael served as a Trustee of the Marketing Science Institute, a board member of the Cable Telecommunications Association for Marketing and on the International Alumni Board of the London Business School. Michael’s interests include a deep commitment to the theatre and the performing arts, and he serves as a current member of the Board of Advisors at the Yale School of Drama, and was for many years a member of the Board of Directors of the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC.
