Jenny Fernandez | How personal transformation and branding can lead to success

By Daina Tilton
AMA New York Volunteer

On Thursday, July 23rd, Jenny Fernandez was the guest speaker at AMA New York’s Women in Marketing virtual series. With over 20 years of experience launching, managing, growing brands, and leading strategic business turnarounds across North America and Asia Pacific, Jenny brings incredible expertise to the fields of marketing, strategic growth and leadership transformation.

She attributes her success as an inspirational female marketing leader to her embrace of change and the dynamic evolution of the industry. This was not always the case. Jenny shares that when she was younger, the fear of change kept her feeling powerless. However, as she continued to grow and learn, she really started to understand the power of personal transformation and personal branding as a way to get ahead and pave a path for success — not only for her, but for others as well. Along her journey, she gives credit to the high-performing teams that she has built through nurturing young talent and rigorous coaching.

She started her career in consulting at Accenture, advising some of the largest national retail brands such as Pepsi and Sara Lee. Her experience managing large teams to transform her client’s planning & forecasting processes, merchandising operations & capabilities and communications strategy led her to the client-side in brand management at Kraft Heinz (previously known as Kraft Foods). After much success in growing Triscuit Snacks by 12%, she paved her way to Mondelez International going global as Oreo Marketing Director in Asia Pacific.

Today, Jenny is the Vice President of Marketing at Loacker, the world’s #1 wafer brand. But it doesn’t stop there! She also advises start-ups on strategic growth strategies, contributes to the development of others as a leadership coach and teaches marketing at Columbia University and New York University.

The third webinar of our Women in Marketing virtual series covered how Jenny has navigated her career by embracing change and has developed her own leadership style to grow exceptional teams.
